My Quiet Zone

Accidents happen even if you think you are safe

October 7, 2010

Our trip to the mall became a trip to an ER of a hospital.  I never realized that accidents could still happen even if you think you are safe.

Yesterday, I was accompanying my M-i-l to the mall for her last days of shopping before she leaves for Australia.  As we were walking on the side of the road to catch an FX taxi, a jeepney bumped us from behind that made the two of us fall and my right foot was crushed by the front tire of the vehicle.  It seems like hell when I couldn’t pull my foot from under the tire and the driver was like a statue, unmoving.  It took him a long while before he heard me screaming to death.  Then the next thing I knew, I was brought inside SM Mall’s clinic in a wheel chair by the security guards of SM Fairview with M-i-l walking beside me. I was given first aid then rushed to the nearby FEU Hospital’s Emergency Room.  In the ER, we both underwent X-ray procedures and had the results right away.  We were very fortunate that nothing was so serious. Although I had big muscle contusions and deep abrasions on my ankle there was no broken bone seen.  I’m so  glad that I was taking supplements courtesy of my nephew.  It could be the big factor for my strong bones.  I was taking the supplement for more than a year now and it’s probably the reason why the cartilage in my ankle didn’t succumb to extreme impact of which ordinarily would result to bone damage. I’m doing well now so far even if foot is swollen.  Likewise with  M-i-l, she’s fine though her lip is swollen too.  Overall, I’m thankful that it wasn’t that serious at all.
