Rustic Furniture
May 16, 2009
What’s rustic furniture to you? Could it be one made from iron and is already full of rust or one that is kind of antique? I was thinking it could be both. But I was wrong. See what a real rustic furniture is. I never thought they are that lovely!

Meeting New Friends at the Airport
May 14, 2009 Months ago, my sister-in-law informed us that her friend/officemate along with the Australian husband was coming home to the Philippines. The couple had to visit her hometown, Davao City in Mindanao. The flight was from Sydney to Manila and a connecting flight from Manila to Davao. However, the connecting flight was yet scheduled for the following morning. That would have left them waiting at the airport for the entire night. Recognizing the foreseen delay, my sis-in-law called us up requesting us to give her friends company for the night. Unfortunately, hubby had to attend to official business affairs early that evening so I was left on my own meeting these friends. I was instructed by hubby to bring them to Sofitel (formerly Philippine Plaza) and he would meet us there in his car.
I realized, having no car of your own is a real drawback for someone who had just arrived at the airport. I came to meet them commuting and had just planned to hire a car to CCP Complex. However, it took me a lot of talking and dealing with car service company staff for an available car service. That brought me to remember the car service jfk an old friend mentioned. The commendable car service was offered by Go Airlink NYC rendering a car service like no other. If only we have them here, the situation would have been all far different.
Anyway, we were able give them some live band entertainment at the Siete Pecados after a sumptuous dinner at the Outback in Glorietta, Makati. We had a great night. Then we brought them back to NAIA few hours before their flight to Davao.
Fruits and Pizza for Dinner
May 7, 2009Yesterday was daughter’s rest day. I wasn’t in the mood to prepare them some snacks so she dialed for a home delivered pizza, chicken and mojos. She has a Pizzanatic Card which gave her another pizza for free. It was only 5:00p.m. and hubby was yet in the office so the food were too much for the three of us to finish. That left the other box of pizza untouched. Dinner time came but the two siblings gave up their dinner after the very filling snacks. I just brought out some fruits to give them at least something to replace the skipped dinner. These fruits at least, have lots of nutrients very essential to our health.
Here are some to mention in case you’re interested to know.
GRAPES - Prevents the accumulation of harmful oxidized cholesterol. Resveratrol found in polypbenols that occurs naturally in grapes are believed to protect arterial wall damage caused by bad cholesterol or LDL. Grapes also has a strong fighting substance against cancer called caffeic acid. These could be found also in grape juice, jelly and wine.
PINEAPPLE - It contains micro-nutrients that experts believe protects against cancer and this micro-nutrients also break up blood clots and is beneficial to the heart. The ripe pineapple has diuretic properties. Pineapple juices also kills intestinal worms. It also relieves intestinal disorders and soothes the bile. Pineapple juice contains chemicals that stimulates the kidneys and aids in removing toxic elements in the body.Pineapple contains a mixture of enzymes called bromelain. Bromelain blocks the production of kinins that form when there is inflammation. Test have shown that this blocking property of Bromelain in pineapple helps reduce swelling brought about by arthritis, gout, sore throat and acute sinusitis. This also helps accelerate the healing of wounds due to injury or surgery. To help reduce inflammation, eat pineapple in between meals. If eaten during or after meals, the enzymes will be utilized for digesting food.
WATERMELON - This fruit is also a very concentrated source of the carotenoid lycopene. Recent research shows watermelon contains more lycopene than any other fresh fruit or vegetable, even tomatoes. Lycopene is well known for its ability to lower the risk of many different kinds of cancer, especially cancers of the prostate, lung, and stomach. Data are also suggestive of a benefit for cancers of the pancreas, colon and rectum, esophagus, oral cavity, breast, and cervix. Watermelon is also a very good source of vitamin B6 and a good source of vitamin B1, potassium and magnesium.
As for the Pizza, I haven’t researched much for it’s nutrients but all I know of is, it has lots of calories that makes it very fattening. I just wonder why we aren’t affected by it when it’s the favorite snack at home.(Lol)
