Children Playing

November 29, 2008

Many years ago when our subdivision wasn’t fully occupied yet, there was a vacant lot across our house where kids would play all kinds of outdoor games.  There was one game that would usually catch not only my attention but other parents’ as well.   And that was kiddy baseball.  The little boys and girls would be so active pitching, catching running and screaming.  It was like the real game on the Major League Baseball, (of course, this is an overstatement!)  It’s just that the kids’ equipments were composed of a short branch of a tree for the baseball bat and corrugated board for the baseball gloves.  It was fun to watch those kids doing their game with their makeshift Baseball Gloves and baseball bats.

Twenty or more years after, it is quite hard for me to accept the fact that some of those boys and girls who were playing baseball before are now fathers and mothers of little  toddlers and kids. Some of these children who are now young parents, even made my own children Godparents of their own.  Which gave me some puzzles to solve. “What would they give these Godchildren of theirs for Christmas?!”  I know for a fact that giving them what’s on my mind is unsuitable for them yet.  But definitely, when they grow a bit bigger I would suggest wrapping some Baseball Gloves and bats for them. And probably the old scene could roughly playback.

Audio books

November 27, 2008

I remember, years ago when my children were yet that small and not in school yet, they would request me for some fairy tale book reading every time they felt like it. That wasn’t supposed to be a big deal for me for I am the kind of person who loves to read even when I was still in school.  However, reading becomes a laborious task for me when it is done simultaneously with a hundred and one chores that are endlessly waiting to be attended to.  I would usually find myself so stressed out as I keep the house spic and span and at the same time trying to read out books to two little kids who were eager to learn.  Those were the days of time consuming book reading for children.  But now, in this techy age and time, book reading for children need not be so demanding at all. Yup! Parents of young kids can find Audio books that would surely catch their children’s interest. These CD Books can easily be acquired online. No need for someone to read for them. Various Fairy Tales CD Books for children are available. And not only that! The ever popular High School Musical books, CD’s and DVD’s which is a real hit to the young ones can  also be purchased on the net.. What a great relief for mothers of little kids!

What are you thankful for this year?

November 25, 2008

I’ve been tagged by Donabel for this one.  Thanks, sweetie!  We may not  have Thanksgiving holiday here in the Philippines unlike in the U.S. but to be thankful for so many things need not wait for a certain holiday, right?  So, let’s  pause and reflect on the blessings bestowed on us this year.

Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you desire,If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don’t know somethingFor it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for the difficult times

During those times you grow.

Be thankful for your limitations

Because they give you opportunities for improvement.

Be thankful for each new challenge

Because it will build your strength and character.

Be thankful for your mistakes

They will teach you valuable lessons.

Be thankful when you’re tired and weary

Because it means you’ve made a difference.

GRATITUDE can turn a negative into a positive.

Find a way to be thankful for your troublesand,

they can become your blessings.

Here are the 7 things that I am most grateful for this year:

Firstly, I am grateful that I will be celebrating my 16th year of cancer survivorship on Dec. 14. with healthy body cleared from the dreaded  disease.

  1. I am grateful for having Hubby as my lifetime partner. And to have celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary with no major marital problem whatsoever, all through out the years of being together.
  2. I am grateful for my two helpful children.  That they are always  helping  in their own capacity.
  3. I am grateful that Hubby is still with the same employer for 24 years now and  this company employer continually gives its employees same benefits despite the global crisis.  Their hospitalization benefit absolutely saved my life.
  4. I am grateful for having learned to use the computer, and grateful for Hubby’s patience, generosity and kindness on imparting his techy knowledge to me and for buying me my own laptop.
  5. I am very grateful for my angel (housemaid) for keeping the house for us. Coz it would be very difficult for me to face my lappy if she’s not around.
  6. Last but not least, am so thankful that I feel God is forever watching over us.

I wanna pass this to all my blogger buddies who have blessings to be thankful for.   I hope you’ll grab this now and announce your gratefulness.

Celebrations of the "High and Mighties"

November 22, 2008

We have just been to a grand birthday celebration which was attended  by a close group of friends and relatives of the celebrator from the different parts of the world.  This group of friends is the same group who usually celebrate each others birthdays on places they fancy. It is not that surprising since these people have the capacity for such whims. This is the reason why Hubby and I refer to them as the “Rich and Famous” or the ” High and Mighties”.

There is another unorthodox celebration being planned by one of them. It is to have her next birthday event in New York City.  It is no doubt that no matter how grand that celebration could be financial wise, it would just be a very simple one for her to carry out.  That is after hearing from niece how rich this lady is.

The recent island celebration was a blast for the group. They were pleased with the accommodations and the Tourist Bus Service that were rented especially for them while staying here in the country.  This lady who’s planning for her birthday has even made mention that the tour bus service should be commended for superb service.  She was hopeful that when she has her own birthday event in New York City, she could also find same superior service as she looks for Charter Bus Rental NYC for her own guests transport assistance. And I am certain it would be easy for her to find one.

On Credit Cards

November 21, 2008

Nowadays, credit cards are like business cards.  It is delivered at your doorstep without you asking for it.  Before, I have to depend on Hubby for my credit card.  I never had my own.  A year ago, one of Metrobank’s teller kept on convincing me to get a credit card from their bank. I declined coz I already have a handful courtesy of Hubby.  In spite of that, a card was still sent to me. I accepted it, nonetheless.  Then, a few months later, another credit card arrived again from the same bank. This time, it’s a credit card for women only (femme). I accepted it once again coz it’s already there and for free.  But if you would ask if I have used them, I’d say barely.  I’m more comfortable using my supplementary cards coz I don’t worry paying for the bills.  Hubby gets the burden of it. He he he!

Two days ago, another credit card ( Mastercard) from Banco De Oro,  arrived again OMG!  These credit cards are like confetti (allow me to exaggerate) dropping down on me. And this morning, my Metrobank card was billing me for an annual membership fee. I refused to pay so I just asked for cancellation of the said card.  Enticing me not to cancel, they offered to waive the annual membership fee. And what do you know?  I was enticed and kept the card once more. I’m a very responsible credit card holder anyway.

So there, my wallet is bulging and nearly worn out not because of cash content but because of plastic monies!

Above is the newest plastic money of my own.

All the other credit cards- supplementaries and principals
