Checking on my parents grave

October 29, 2008

All Saints Day in the Philippines is like a Feast Day in all the cemeteries here.  Many are preparing and cleaning the niches of their loved ones this early for the said day.  And we are among those who want to make sure our loved ones grave is well taken care of.  Hubby and I came to check on my parents final resting place at the Holy Cross Memorial Park last Oct 19. It was a day after my father’s 18th death anniversary. I maybe a day late in visiting but that doesn’t mean I’ve taken him and mother for granted.  They will always be loved and remembered even after death.  As we saw it, the grasses are well trimmed. The caretaker we hired are obviously doing good her job,  All is set for the coming day of our departed loved ones.

Hello and Goodbye to Ryan

October 16, 2008

It was surprisingly sunny, like we were being blessed by nature when we travelled to Bagac, Bataan for the nth time.  We spent Sunday with Hubby’s sister and her kids and grandkids plus her boy friend. Since the place was Bataan, I wouldn’t go anywhere else in that province without my big sister and two of her kids coming along with us. (She resides in Balanga).  So together with my own family (sans my daughter) we headed off to Sun Moon Beach in a three car convoy.  That outing, I should say, was more than fun and better than cool!   Since this occasion was actually a reunion with our OFW nephew Ryan, his wife, Pie, made an early marketing for all kinds of food we later cooked on the beach itself.  And I just bought a few additional fresh seafoods in Balanga City market. I guess everybody enjoyed the fare coz everyone participated in cooking.  Ryan was set to fly back to Brunei later this afternoon.  I can tell that though there is pain in leaving, Ryan will be carrying with him one wonderful memory.  …that one great day of good food,  breathtaking beach, lots of laughter and all the people who love him.  Hello and Goodbye, Ryan!

Looking for a Better Gas Range

October 10, 2008

Since we moved in at our present house more than two decades ago, we have made a number of renovations here and there.  We have replaced the furnishings once or twice and bought new kitchen appliances to fit in the newly installed kitchen cabinets.  But that was eons ago and those new appliances are no longer new but rather old and dysfunctional, specifically the oven.  I missed baking so I am now canvassing for a better brand of gas range for I hope to bake and roast again come Christmas time.  And oh, speaking of baking and roasting, I need to buy some new baking tools too, for some of those I was using are now gone and nowhere to be found. I had mentioned this plan of mine to hubby and there was no disagreement on his part maybe because he knows I’m willing to wait for his Christmas bonus to spend for these.

I was advised by a friend to look first in ShopWiki.com.  Coz here she said, one need not go out of the house to waste time, money and effort to hop from one shop to another.  From the biggest kitchen appliances to the smallest kitchen tools, or any product for that matter, all can be found here. It had truly revolutionized online shopping.  And it only made me feel excited for the new gas range I’m longing to have.

No Avon Walk For Us

October 8, 2008

Sad to say, we didn’t make it to “Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer” Walk of Avon last Sunday.  I woke up at 4:30 but hubby refused to get up from bed saying that we won’t make it at the scheduled time.  I just learned that he didn’t have enough sleep the night before for he had to drive daughter to work at around 2:00 a.m.  I was really upset for missing the activity coz it was somehow like a vow for me to involve myself on this Campaign Against Breast Cancer yearly.  Anyway,  there’s another year to look forward to, with  God’s will!

Of Tags and Tags Alone

October 4, 2008

I have received and passed a few tags.  I do admit that I am very pleased to have been tagged by co-bloggers because that meant I am being remembered by them.  But I have noticed that some tags are made and passed for the purpose of having continuing traffic to the blog site of the one who initiated it.  I think it’s all right to just passed the tags as in chain letter but to ask each and everyone to go back to the one site who initiated the tag, isn’t fine with me.  No offense meant to anyone.  As I’ve said, I am pleased being tagged and am very grateful to be remembered.  But with all apologies, I begged not to be included on chain tags anymore, let alone on tags that require everyone to go back to one site.  Just accept my thanks and apology!

My Friend Will Be In New York

October 3, 2008

I was talking to my close friend the other day; and, she had mentioned of a plan of flying to New York, USA to come with her elderly parents  They requested for her to come along to tour New York, USA and at the same time visit some relatives in New Jersey this coming November. I just brushed it away, thinking that she’s only joking.  She has her visa all right but knowing that her hubby is a bit sickly and the kids are not used to be left on their own, I doubted if she could stand leaving her family behind.

Last night, I got a call from her informing me that they are confirmed to leave on Wednesday, November 12.  I was dumbfounded!  Nevertheless, I do admire her courage to venture into some transitory changes on their lives.  She is now arranging their itineraries and is now looking for a better Laguardia Airport Shuttle to transport them from LaGuardia Airport to their destination in a relative’s place in New York City.  I guess she has found one in the net.  It’s Go Airlink Shuttle.  “The affordability of the share-ride and the convenience that it would give them is what they need,” She said.

There’s no stopping for this gutsy friend of mine.  Wishing them a blessed trip!

Playing Poker

October 1, 2008

What is Poker?   I know nothing about the game.  All I know of poker is, it is a kind of card game that has a dealer. Although it looks interesting, nobody here in our house knows how to play it.  I have watched a Poker competition on T.V. and tried to understand but it looked so complicated to me that I felt dumb not being able to comprehend the popular card game.  On my younger years, a friend taught me how to play one poker game.  I can’t recall how it went but what I can remember was the elegant poker table they were using then.  If I am to play Poker again, I would prefer playing on a similarly elegant Poker Table coz it would be more refreshing and motivating to stay on the game if the table you are using is perfectly made for the specific Poker Game. I am sure you too would feel the same way it if you are in it.  And if you are one amongst the religious group of players looking for the perfect table for your kind of poker, you can log on to American Gaming Supply.com.  Here you can find a very good selection of  Poker Tables perfect for the kind of Poker game you are playing.  And not only that, you can also find here all the gaming supply that you would need in your game.  So what are you waiting for?  Go get your Poker Table, call your co-players and start the game!
