Going Out of Town

August 28, 2008

I will not be seeing this blog for the next few days.  Tomorrow, we will be on another long road trip to Quezon, Isabela  to attend a wedding (again) of another nephew, Jing.  He is going to marry his long time girlfriend, Babette.   This is more or less of the same celebration as what his big brother, Ronel had.  Daughter is included in the wedding entourage so she has to skip work for days.  Son chooses not to come with us.  I’ve done all the styles to persuade him to come with us, but he’s hard to agree.  We’ll leave him alone if that’s what would make him happy.  I haven’t packed our stuff yet.  So I have to say bye for now!  See you when we get back probably Monday. Bye – bye!

Extended Weekend

August 26, 2008

The past weekend was extended until Monday being a regular holiday.  I forgot that it is National Heroes Day on the 28th of the month.  Thus making the Monday within the week a holiday rather than observing it on the day itself which is a Thursday.   And oh, what a lazy day it was! Nothing done but surfed the internet, ate, slept, and watched TV til we decided to go to the mall to do some walking and for daughter to look for the footwear she’ll use as a secondary sponsor on her cousin’s wedding on Saturday.  Out we were in Robinson’s Novaliches thinking that it wouldn’t be as crowded as SM City Fairview on the opposite side.  But we were caught by surprise because it was full of shoppers too. We should have remebered it’s a holiday.  Daughter did some lookin’ and searchi’ for the right footwear but didn’t like any.  Me,  I could have picked one nice shirt but unluckily, no size was available.  So shopping was postponed till before Saturday comes. We were looking for a chinese restaurant for our dinner but  there’s none around so we had to hopped in the car and proceed to our favorite chinese restaurant few meters away.  I was supposed to take pictures of all the food but  when those were served,  I absolutely forgot about the photo shooting.

"Angel"

August 23, 2008

How light the feeling of having someone around to do the chores for you.  Since last month, this is how I am, sort of relaxed.  Finally, after a long time of being harassed by the nerve wrecking household chores, my feet are up and resting, thankful to my comebacking household assistant. She’s my “angel” (housemaid )since 2006 but had to go home for some reason. Then last month she came back.  I was more than glad to welcome her back.  I have learned to love this “angel” of mine coz she’s cheerful. Despite the loads of chores she’s handling,  I still could hear her sing.  And she works perfectly well too.  I had a number of angels before and after her but no one could equal her qualities. So what I do is to give her what she needs, help her in whatever way I can, which is seen by my friends as too much spoiling. I just don’t wanna go back to those stressful days of  daily chores.  By now, I am very relaxed but once in a while worry to one day see this “angel”  flap her wings and fly away!

Thank God, It’s Friday!

It’s already 3:00 pm, I just came back from a morning mall shopping. I heard from the weather report this morning that it’s gonna rain this afternoon.  ‘Great that Pagasa Weather Forecast was once again inaccurate.  It’s super dooper hot sunshiny afternoon now. ..just right for shopping time.  Mamang bought some stuff needed for the wedding of her grandson, had lunch at Max’s then drove her back to my sis-in law’s place to attend to some important matters.  Back here at home, I dash to my laptop to keep up with my blog.

Frustrating Weekend

August 18, 2008

This i.ph web site was nowhere to be seen last Saturday and  Sunday, at least by us bloggers at home. The three laptops we were using here lost connection to the said web host.  I thought it was inaccessible to all the internet users but we found out late last night that it was our telephone company’s dsl connection’s fault.  Why and how it happened, I really don’t have any idea. Hubby called up the telephone company and he was given instructions how to fix the problem. Only then did we find access to our  i.ph blogs.  I’m glad those frustrating days were over!

Potpot Loves Teddy Bear

August 16, 2008

This little shih tzu dog of ours, Potpot,  is getting  so affectionate.  He stays wherever I am or whoever is left around him.  He follows simple commands as “sit”,  “stand-up”, “drop down”,  ‘come here’, “stay” and “behave”.  He’s actually our little baby in the house.  He always takes advantage of Teddy Bears lap as he loves being hugged and being squeezed.  Last night he got lost. We kept looking for him but can’t find him.  And so I cried. I cried out so loud that made me wake up. And realized I was only dreaming.  Right there and then,  I got up the bed and looked for him.  I found him sleeping and snoring at  Teddy Bear’s lap.

Mother’s Dilemma

August 13, 2008

I am constructing another blog site and it is basically done, except for some finishing touches.  I want to work on it again if only for the drowsiness brought about by my graveyard shift job. Nope, I’m not working, as in paid work per se.  I am servicing a working lady who works in a Call Center on a graveyard shift. And that lady is  Janina, my daughter. I drive her to her work place, since I worry too much for her safety if she   gets to commute alone during that graveyard hour.  The driver stint is not exclusively mine though.. The three of us (with the father and the big brother) are taking turns driving for her.  Perhaps, the father is getting tired of being waken up in the midst of deep slumber so he now pushes her to get her own driver’s license. The daughter loves the idea seeing the possibility that the second car would be given to her. But then, the mother, that’s deemed to always be on a character role, disagrees.  Just tell me, why shouldn’t I?   I can’t imagine her driving all alone by herself on deserted roads on midnights.  I don’t know!  I just can’t get rid of my mother instinct of over protectiveness.  For the father, it’s just all right.

                                                                                 The car to drive.

I hope you can help me.  What is your view on this little dilemma of mine? Please tell me what to do.  Should I or should I not agree to allow a 22 year old lady drive a Kia Carens car all alone by herself in the midnight hour, on a 10 kilometer distance of deserted road?  We’re here in Quezon City, Philippines, if that would help you to have an idea of our place.

The Other Woman

August 10, 2008

My mother- in-law is staying with us now.  She’ll be with us until she leaves for Australia on the first week of September.  While she’s here, am just doing everything to make her feel comfortable.  She doesn’t know it , but she’s bringing me back the memories of my own mother.  The two mothers have many similarities and I can’t help but miss my own.

She’s the other woman of my husband. And she’s the kind of other woman you’ll be thankful, your husband has.

"Sukob"

The title means share.  It is sharing one and the same wedding year by two siblings.  If we are to follow the Filipino customs and traditions, getting married on the same year as that of a sibling’s wedding year is a big no-no.  That’s one amongst the many superstitions being observed by our olds. But on this age of 3G i-phones, T.V’s on celphones and computers, and tours on space, is there a room yet for such superstition to inhabit the minds of the X and the Y generations? It’s an absolute “Nay”, for brothers Ronel and Rogel (Jing) Padilla.  Superstitions are only superstitions without basis at all.  For wedding bells are ringing once again, this time for Jing and Babette. The wedding will took place on the 30th of the current month. Exactly 50 days after his big brother’s wedding last July 12th.

                                                                        Babette and Jing

And to prove that there’s no sense on that so called “sukob” superstition for the Padilla family, it’s quite spicey to note that their widowed mom has also gotten married (anew) to an American national last May, also of the current year.  Would the Oldies oppose?  Perhaps they would if they could. But only one is around and the others are gone. One is to All?  Uh – oh!

Moving With The Best Mover

August 4, 2008

Have you any plan of moving out?  Well then, it’s not an easy task you’re gonna go through. Moving valuables such as Fine Art, musical instruments, car shipping or bulks of just small ordinary effects need some caring handlers to depend to.  Moving companies are not at all the same.  You’ve got to look for the one which has been in long years of dependable service.

Avoid the experience my sister went through when they moved out of Virginia, for their new destination that is California.  Being a family of a U.S. Navy Serviceman, they needed to move from one destination to another wherever and whenever her husband was deployed. Since they were in a hurry to complete their transfer, they picked whichever moving company they first came across with.  Their properties and belongings were moved and transferred alright but as the cargoes reached the destination, they were dismayed to find out that many of the effects were damaged. The moving company turned out to be a small fly by night, inexperienced moving company.

Now, if you are moving out, or planning to move out, avoid such experience.  Look for Humboldt, the oldest and the most experienced Boston Moving Company in Massachusetts. They offer not only local but also international moving services which are being managed by their professional movers who are with them for more than 10 years. You need not worry of your moving if you’ll do it with Humboldt, probably, the best Boston Moving Company.
