My Quiet Zone

The truth behind. . .

July 22, 2008

If you could notice the time I posted my post “Red roses For a Blue Lady”, it was 12:35 am of July 20. Minutes before, it dawned on me that within few seconds, it would be my birthday.  I reflected on some hidden emotions or rather sentiments.  I had long been wishing to receive a bunch or if not, at least three long stemmed red roses on my birthday. I really love the thought that goes with it. Sweet!  But sad to say, nothing came along on the past birthdays.  So I was thinking, here it is again, another birthday to celebrate, still with no roses to expect.  I don’t remember anymore the last time I had received roses.  I think it was when Magellan discovered the Philippines or maybe later, when Jose Rizal proposed to Josephine Bracken. I really can’t recall anymore.

To cut it short, I don’t want to ask, insinuate, or impose.  I just want red roses to come from a thoughtful heart.  As I was thinking that nothing will come along again, I searched for a beautiful picture of red roses, posted it and be contented with it, With a slight lump on my throat. I almost wanted to put hint words but didn’t.  Then I slept till late in the morning, almost forgetting that we had to meet with my brother’s family for a lunch out, to celebrate my birthday with them.

At noon time, we were all together inside the restaurant, each one greeted me.  .(Hmm, mwah! Okay, thank you  guys, for you took time out to be with me on that specia day!) Except daughter who excused herself to exit then came back with , . .you guess what???

Surprise of all surprises!  She was carrying a bouquet of red roses on her arms,  And would you believe?  ‘Twas for me!  She greeted me with a kiss and I got teary eyed.  I asked her if she’d seen my latest post yet. I believed her when she answered negatively. I know she hasn’t had the chance to do so. So, no hint there, whatsoever.  It came from her own volition, from her own thoughtful heart.  I don’t know. .  I bet God finally heard my unspoken wish. Why wouldn’t I think so? Daughter’s usual birthday gift for me were cakes, never roses.  Hah!!! I got real Red Roses  this time. Thank you, my sweet thoughtful daughter!  You absolutely made my day!’Love yah!

Can you see that very big smile? Happiness on my arm!

ma, if i remember it right, kuya and i gave you half bouquet of yellow roses on mother’s day less than 10 years ago, while i was in high school. it even came with a card, i believe. if it weren’t for your anesthesia, i would have thought you totally have forgotten about it just ’cause.

anyway, happy birthday ulit. thanks for the appreciation. and i swear, never did read the entry up until now. you were still working on your laptop when i left the house that morning you posted it, remember? and it is prohibited in convergys to surf the net for personal purposes. and honestly, that 2 and a half dozen of roses was not prepared in an hour. order was placed days before. i love you too.
