Discover New Career Opportunity
July 30, 2008Finding jobs nowadays are getting stiffer. Or, if ever one has already landed a job, there is a great competition in the work place. My daughter is one example who’s squeezing it out into the corporate world. She has successfully landed a job after her graduation from college but due to rigid work hours and a great deal of struggle, she is now amongst those professionals who are considering a career in technology.
A nephew of mine is presently enjoying a profession in the IT world. He is being sent to different countries where the company he works for has offices; and he is the one in charge of disseminating to all their employees the latest information technology of the company. He is truly enjoying the success he has made for himself in the IT world. According to him, he has seen continues demand for skilled IT professionals. For this reason he is pushing my daughter to take some IT certification because he evidently knows the demand for such career. According to him, all those he has trained for their industries technology are stepping up the ladder of the IT world.
Now, my daughter is contemplating on veering to IT career. She is considering of getting a Cisco certification, particularly the CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), for her start. Aside from CCNA being a self study program, it offers a self–paced study routine that would give her ample time to both her present job and studies. I could see she’s determined to reach her goal, to be one like those her cousin has been training, if not like her cousin himself.
Dikong Amang Has Passed Away
July 29, 2008My maternal cousin, Carlos B. Altoveros, Jr. or Dikong Amang as I call him has passed away last Thursday, July 24, 2008. He had a 3rd stroke last October, 2007 and suffered from immobility since. He died in their Cainta residence but his remains was brought to their home in Talavera, Nueva Ecija. He left behind three sons, Carlos III with wife Tonette, Eymard, and Arnold with wife, Riz and grandson. Zach.
His interment will be on Tuesday, July 29 at the Talavera Cemetery.
May he rest in peace with the Lord.

The Final After Effect
July 25, 2008Nah! For the nth time I was out giving blow-out. This time it was with my three close buddies, Ely, Susan, and Lyn. If not for the group’s tradition, I would have exempted myself for giving this birthday blow-out. I had quite enough. But since everyone within the group had their own share of birthday celebrations, I thought of pooling the girl-group together ( sorry to hubbies, you’re not included) and had a dinner out. We ordered our food while still waiting for Susan. She was just a few minutes late than when the food was served. It has been weeks or a month since the four of us were together so buzz updates poured in like a bottomless iced tea. And just as we were to wind up, our driver (hubby) arrived. He must be very thankful ‘cause we had plenty of leftovers he finished all by himself. After the last cup of tea, the final after effect of my birthday was over. Looking forward to another get together soon.
Note: We took pictures but my camera’s USB was missing so I can’t transfer the pictures to my laptop at the moment. I’ll post it here as soon as I find the USB.
WaMu Checking Account
July 24, 2008Years ago, I used to engage myself in “buy and sell”. Anything that would give me some income was worth spending my time. I’ve gone selling jewelries, books, RTW’s and almost anything that would have augmented hubby’s income. I also involved myself with some networking schemes, (not the pyramiding scam kind though) where I made some money. I was too busy selling and recruiting at the same time. I was digging up more than enough and was satisfied. The “buy and sell” business I had was quite successful. However, I had encountered some difficulties in carrying some cash in my pocket. With rampant hold-ups and snatching around our vicinity during the time, I would see that I was putting myself in great danger. So what I did was open up a checking account and that certainly ended my dilemma regarding carrying cold cash in my bag or pocket. It is much easier to transact business and even less time consuming. During that time, it wasn’t yet as high tech as today. It was just the issue and deposit to bank style, very much far behind from checking accounts offered today, especially the WaMu Checking Account. If you are one who needs checking account, see what WaMu checking account offers. You got to find out what’s in their free checking, its freebies like free checks, free check safekeeping and free wire transfers. Or, you can try WaMu’s interest checking account, the Platinum Checking. Whatever it is you need, free checking or interest checking, there’s a WaMu personal checking that’s right for you. If only I’m still into my Buy and Sell, or any business for that matter, such checking accounts would be of great help.
Still on my birthday celebration
July 23, 2008My birthday lunch celebrations wouldn’t be happier if they weren’t around me. Ate Nory, Alma Brenda, Jon, Kim, Kadz, Ichu, the latest kulet, Kalvin, daughter Ja, her friend Riel and the one in charge of the celeb, hubby. It was followed by dinner with in-laws, Mamang and Elvie, son Igi and again of course, hubby. Thank you sooo much, for being with me on my day!

The truth behind. . .
July 22, 2008
If you could notice the time I posted my post “Red roses For a Blue Lady”, it was 12:35 am of July 20. Minutes before, it dawned on me that within few seconds, it would be my birthday. I reflected on some hidden emotions or rather sentiments. I had long been wishing to receive a bunch or if not, at least three long stemmed red roses on my birthday. I really love the thought that goes with it. Sweet! But sad to say, nothing came along on the past birthdays. So I was thinking, here it is again, another birthday to celebrate, still with no roses to expect. I don’t remember anymore the last time I had received roses. I think it was when Magellan discovered the Philippines or maybe later, when Jose Rizal proposed to Josephine Bracken. I really can’t recall anymore.
To cut it short, I don’t want to ask, insinuate, or impose. I just want red roses to come from a thoughtful heart. As I was thinking that nothing will come along again, I searched for a beautiful picture of red roses, posted it and be contented with it, With a slight lump on my throat. I almost wanted to put hint words but didn’t. Then I slept till late in the morning, almost forgetting that we had to meet with my brother’s family for a lunch out, to celebrate my birthday with them.
At noon time, we were all together inside the restaurant, each one greeted me. .(Hmm, mwah! Okay, thank you guys, for you took time out to be with me on that specia day!) Except daughter who excused herself to exit then came back with , . .you guess what???
Surprise of all surprises! She was carrying a bouquet of red roses on her arms, And would you believe? ‘Twas for me! She greeted me with a kiss and I got teary eyed. I asked her if she’d seen my latest post yet. I believed her when she answered negatively. I know she hasn’t had the chance to do so. So, no hint there, whatsoever. It came from her own volition, from her own thoughtful heart. I don’t know. . I bet God finally heard my unspoken wish. Why wouldn’t I think so? Daughter’s usual birthday gift for me were cakes, never roses. Hah!!! I got real Red Roses this time. Thank you, my sweet thoughtful daughter! You absolutely made my day!’Love yah!
Can you see that very big smile? Happiness on my arm!
Red roses. . .for a blue lady
July 20, 2008 I came across this very beautiful red roses photo. ‘Cant help but snatch and post it here. My apology to all who are taking time to drop by my site. There’s nothing significant about this. I just love looking at them over and over again. As what youngters usually comment in the dialect. . .”wala lang!” (just nothing!)
Now, . . .who’s blue?
Don’t bother to guess. ‘Cos there’s no one.
Shuttle to JFK
July 19, 2008I have never been to the U.S. of A., much more to the Big Apple, New York City. It has been a dream of mine to see the Statue of Liberty, the Empire Estate Building and to visit even just the site of the once majestic World Trade Center, now Ground Zero. I have heard so much about the busy streets of Manhattan, Broadway and the towering skyscrapers from my friend who’ve been there which gives me more the desire to realize the dream. Lyn, a close friend of mine toured the very famous city months ago. She recounted the wonderful experience of being in the city. However, she encountered some glitch on her transfer to JFK Airport from her cousin’s apartment somewhere in the city. Her cousin was to bring her down JFK Airport but due to unavoidable circumstance, she wasn’t able to take her there. They had to call a friend to do the job. She said she could have avoided the trouble should she have known the services offered by GO Airlink Shuttle beforehand. Shuttle to JFK was not actually a problem if she had just booked with Go Airlink Shuttle. It is a dependable and secured ground transportation services around New York City and the surrounding suburbs. She could have availed of their share-ride service instead which is very affordable. It’s so easy to transfer on either direction between JFK, La Guardia, and Newark Airports and hotels and other places within the covered vicinity. What a comfort it could have been, she moaned.
Some Funny Signs
July 17, 2008I visited my niece Raquel’s blogsite and found these funny signs on her post. Jon, her brother, e-mailed them to her. They really made my day. I just wish I was included in that e-mail’s addressees. But hey, here they are just the same. I grabbed them from her blog. Thanks, Jay!

I hope they also bring smiles on your faces.
Our Nephew’s Wedding
July 15, 2008We’re back from Quezon, Isabela. The wedding we attended was great. It was a simple but grand wedding in the sense that almost all of the family members, relatives and close friends were present. The mother of the groom may have been absent but his granny stood in her place. Likewise, the groom’s uncle (my hubby) stood in place of the groom’s deceased father. Though the couple are both from Isabela, the wedding took place in Tuguegarao Cathedral, Cagayan. The reception was held in Hotel Roma, located in the same city. Jaries, the bride was lovely in her gorgeous bridal gown while Ronel, the groom was stunningly good looking in his black coat and tie. It was not just a day of Padilla-Taroma Nuptial celebration but it was also days of carefree and enjoyable bonding with all the nephews, nieces and nieces-in-law to be.
Here are some of the photos:
The wedding was over. The new stage of their lives has just began. May they have a family built with love, respect and fear of God. And may they live happily ever after!
You may check my hubby’s story.
Hooked!
July 8, 2008Oh me, oh my! I was about to iron the towering bunch of clothes I had washed for many days but I saw my laptop and told myself that just for a minute, I’ll take a peek on my e-mail and message board. But as usual, one click led to another and another until I found it hard to stop and shut off this addictive stuff. I guess I’m really getting hooked on this blogging thing since my total ignorance of the techy stuff is slowly being taken over by my enthusiasm to learn about scores of information, subscriptions and all the things that matters in blogging. I’m just too lucky sometimes that I get to interact with some helpful bloggers and they are fairly a part of my techy development. To you guys, many thanks! Keep on sharing!
I sure need some self disciplining. My mind is dictating my body to set aside this laptop.
I must follow or my errands mounds up. So I have to go now, See you again as soon as I’m free of my chores.
Not ready yet
July 6, 2008There are only five days left before our scheduled trip to Quezon, Isabela. We are going back there for another visit, this time, it’s for Ronel. Our nephew (Hubby’s side) is getting married on Saturday, July 12. The mother, Hubby’s elder sister is currently in the U.S. She can’t come home for the special event so she requested that her son be led to the altar by Hubby and by Mamang, (Hubby’s mom). Only five days to go but Hubby is atill not ready, and so is Luigi, my son. The latter was tapped to be one of the secondary sponsors so that means that he too, would be needing formal attire such as Barong Tagalog.
(The couple to be married.)
No problem for Hubby on that matter. It’s my son that needs some shopping. And nothing is accomplished yet. Hubby can’t even confirm his availability for the said date because of an important job related appointment that popped-up lately.
I have no idea what’s gonna happen next. Should we go shopping tomorrow for the needed attire or should we wait for the last minute. Hah!. . que sera sera!
I’ll end here with my favorite line. “We are now on a stand by mode”!
The Other Man’s Grass Is Always Greener
July 3, 2008Being a full time wife and mother is more strenuous than being a career woman/wife/mom. I maybe wrong but that’s what I have experienced. I miss the times of working silently on my desk, voluminous the paper works maybe but I could finish the task on time. With little funny chats on the side with officemates, time flew so fast that I would just realize it’s dismissal time. Then I’d be home with my son who was a little kid then. I remember missing him the whole day. I certainly didn’t miss Hubby as much, for we were together 24/7 since he and I were working in the same office. What I am missing now are the office ambiance, my officemates whom we constantly went out with after office, and the opportunities to know my Hubby’s activities in and out of the office. (Lol) Well, I’m just kidding coz I trust my hubby so much.
Anyway, those were only a small part of my disappointments. They occasionally hit me when I’m getting upset like what I am now. Why am I upset? Because I thought I’d be finally saved from my daily chores You see, last Saturday, we picked up the Angel (maid) my sister searched for me, coz she knew I was still weak from my stay in the hospital. We went all the way to Bataan last Saturday to fetch her. Here at home, last Sunday, she started working on the heaping laundry (I haven’t touched for almost two weeks.) The next day, Monday, she ironed a few. I didn’t oblige her to wash the dishes or any other chores. I only asked her to clean the house instead of ironing, but told me she’ll just do it the next day. On that next day which is Tuesday, she asked permission to go home. She promised she’ll be back but I don’t expect. Back to her home in Bataan she went. A rider in Hubby’s car she was dropped by at a Provincial Bus Stop along the highway. Pfftt,. ..gone is the angel!
And now, here I am, trying to pick up the pieces. Not so strong yet like before, but I got no choice. I’ve got to face the music.
P.S. If you’re a career woman/wife/mom, think twice before you exchange it for a complete domestic life. Or would you agree to the quotation . . .”The other man’s grass is always greener!” ?
The Best Gift Ever
July 2, 2008I was one amongst those being tagged by Outback Pinay. This has been quite long over due, but as the saying goes, better late than never. So, here it is Yums and thanks.

— The Best Gift Ever —
A young man was getting ready to graduate from college.
For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer’s showroom
and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted.
As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had
purchased the car.
Finally, on the morning of his graduation his father called him into his private study.
His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him.
He handed his son a beautiful wrapped gift box.
Curious, but somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible, with the young man’s name embossed in gold.
Angrily, he raised his voice to his father and said,
“With all your money you give me a Bible?”
And stormed out of the house, leaving the Bible.
Many years passed and the young man was very
successful in business.
He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old and thought perhaps he should go to him.
He had not seen him since that graduation day.
Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son.
He needed to come home immediately and take care of things.
When he arrived at his father’s house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart.
He began to search through his father’s important papers and saw the still
new Bible, just as he had left it years ago.
With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages.
His father had carefully underlined a verse, Matt 7:11,
“And if ye, being evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Heavenly father which is in heaven, give to those who ask Him?”
As he read those words, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible.
It had a tag with the dealer’s name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired.
On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words…
PAID IN FULL.
How many times do we miss God’s blessing because they are not packaged as we expected? I trust you enjoyed this. Pass it on to others. Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; but remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for…
PLS. SEND THIS TO AT LEAST FIVE PEOPLE SO AS TO LET THIS GREAT LESSON FLOW AROUND.

(Write here what you learned)
The lesson I learned here is :
Blessings come in many different ways. We only have to acknowledge and give thanks. We should not stop counting (our blessings) just because we didn’t see what we have asked for.
I would gladly want to share this to all of you, my e-buddies. Any one can grab this and feel the desire to keep within you the touching story and the lesson it brings.

I signed up for PPP!
July 1, 2008
My hubby is the original blogger and he had been encouraging me to blog too. Initially, I didn’t want to. After some prodding from him, I gave in. He told me the advantages of having a blog–the fun and the enjoyment that I could get from it and the money that I could earn made me decide to try blogging. I started my own blog; and he was right. I am enjoying and having fun writing blog posts and reading other blogs. Then, I tried blogging for money. According to him, PayPerPost (PPP) is one of the best, if not the best, online money making providers.
Taking his words, I signed up with PPP; as I learned my blog is already qualified. I had been absent from blogging for a few days; as I was confined in a hospital. Thus, I was not able to monitor whether my PPP registration had been approved or not. Two days ago, I was given a clean bill of health by my doctors.
I just checked my email; and I am very ecstatic to learn that my blog was approved. I am now a postie! Thank you very much PPP! I immediately logged in to PPP to check for opportunities available for me. And, I am now writing my first blog post for PPP.
I will use the money I am earning from paid blogging to finance my future travels, (that’s trying to keep my positive imagination.)
If you are not a postie yet, I recommend that you try it out. For your reference, please check the blog ethics.
